Vista Problems: |
|
|
|
Shareware version: during the
shareware period before you purchase a license,
vista users will get two (2) dll errors during the start of most of our shareware
programs. It is because of the delay verifying
if you have a licensed version or not.
This error does not effect the
use of the program in anyway and it will go away - once
you purchase and activate the full version of the
software.

New with
Vista:
being the new operating system on the block it has
some features that cause problems for standard
programs. That would normally work fine in XP or
Win98.
Here is a list of things you can do to make your
normal application run more smoothly in Vista.
Try each step one at a time, test the software, then
if you have to advance to the next step.
*** Many of the utilities including the backup
systems found in the utilities section of our
programs will not work, unless you turn off the UAC.

Step 3
Step 1
1. When you install the program - do not install it
in the program files folder - instead try using a
none standard folder name. In case of our
applications. I suggest you to replace the
install location "program files" to omegamagnus.
Example:
normal install location:
c:\program files\black book se
new vista install location:
c:\omegamagnus\black book se
This can be chosen from the install menu during the
installation.
Step 2.
Right click on the program icon and choose
properties.

Click on the Compatibility Tab (found on top of
menu)

Check Mark the following as shown above:
(check mark) Run this program in compatibility mode
for:
Windows XP (service pack 2)
Privilege Level:
(check mark) Run this program as an administrator.
Click on the Apply Button and then OK
Your program will work, but you will need to click
ok each time you run the application.
Step 3. Turn off the UAC
A. go to windows button,
control panel,
User Accounts

Click on "Turn User Account
Control on or off"
Click "Continue" button

Uncheck:
Use User Account Control (UAC)
to help protect your computer.
Click on the "OK"
button
"Restart Now" button, and let it restart your
computer.
This last step will usually allow most XP
applications to work normally in vista.
Turn off User Account
Control Warning!
Once you have logged back on your system:
click on the red shield icon

On left side of menu sample shown above -
click on Change the way
Security Center alerts me.

Don't notify me, but display
the icon - ( is a good choice.)
Don't notify me and don't
display the icon - takes away all warnings dealing
with the Windows Security Center. (
Basically if you want the messages to go away, and
the red shield to go away. Then click on this
choice.)
